Bill & Jules are light tackle and artificial lure enthusiasts and this is one of their specialties when fishing from the beach or shoreline. We target Striped Bass & Bluefish starting on Cape Cod in the early spring and then moving north to the south shore area, south of Boston during the warmer months. You will come across many different situations on the water on any given day. Wind, tide, current, bait in the area, all of these factors change every day so we want to teach you how to prepare for these different situations. We gear these trips to help an angler improve on their techniques based on His or Her experience level.
What to expect: Novice Anglers can expect to be taught the basics first. What we will do is start from the beginning. We will show you the proper balanced tackle for the situation you are going to fish. From there we will work on how to get the rod set up for fishing. ie. Proper line weight, correct match up for rod and reel, how to set the drag properly, what lures to use 1st and how to fish them correctly. Then we will work on casting. Once you have the casting down, the rest of the time we will work on proper techniques on working different lures in different situations, and how to get the fish to react to that lure. We will also then teach you about reading the water and looking for structure in different areas. We will go over different spots that you can try in that area to hopefully improve your catch rate.
For the more Experience Angler, we will work on different spots to fish, work on some of your current skills to make sure you are on top of your game. Go over different lures for different situations that may make your hook up ratio better. If you feel there is something in particular that you need to work on, or something special you would really like to learn. We will work on whatever you feel you would like to do and help you improve on those issues.
KEEPING THE CATCH:
A lot of people ask us if we are strictly catch and release. While Bill & Jules usually release most of the fish they catch. We abide by all state and federal regulations on keeping the catch.
Currently for the 2010 season. You can keep 2 Striped Bass a day at 28 inches in length or over. You can keep 10 Bluefish a day no size limit.
